My job as a matchmaker is to set people up on good dates with people I think could be a long term possible match for them.
One of my biggest frustrations is people not taking responsibility for their actions and not putting forth effort to make the date enjoyable for both people.
What inspired me to write this posting was some feedback I received after a date last week:
“I like to pay for dinner because I’m a gentleman. I typically expect to pay, and will totally make a scene if someone tries to oust me from doing so. With that said, she expected me to pay and happily let me – which I had no qualms with at all. However SHE NEVER THANKED ME FOR DINNER! I don’t think she was unappreciative by any stretch, but a simple thank you to a stranger would be nice!!! That kinda rubbed me the wrong way!“
I mean... what the heck??? Who is this girl's mama??? I kind of want to call and fuss at her! With actions like that, it seems too obvious that the girl wasn’t that into him either. If you do not see yourself going on a second date with a man, why would you let him pay for your meal? Please tell me you are not there for the free meal - that’s sad and pathetic, don’t you think?! If you aren’t into the guy then you should offer to pay for your own dinner… And of course, I can’t believe I have to say this, ALWAYS thank anyone that buys you anything!
Duh!
